MI-EL CELEBRATES ITS FIRST MODEL UNITED NATIONS
On April 19 and 20, the first Model United Nations of the school was held, known as MUN MI-EL, in which students from Ninth to Twelfth Grade participated, with the purpose of putting their leadership into practice through negotiation strategies and seeking for pacific solutions to current world issues.
Participants were placed in the following committees: United Nations Environment Program, Security Council, Economic and Social Council and the Commission on the Status of Women.
Rossy Báez, Secondary Coordinator said: “The expectation is that from this activity our students can be encouraged to participate in other MUNs and in similar scenarios that allow them to discuss important issues and be part of the solution”.
At the end of the model, the best position papers, best speech and distinguished delegations were awarded. The recognized students were: Dulce Guzmán (United States), Darling Jiménez (Switzerland), Nathalia Zucco (Bolivia), Gabriel Aracena and Sofía Coxaj (Morocco), Noemí Rodríguez and Ligia Virgil (Germany), Alessia Jiménez and Elías Mejía (Mexico) , Anange Maldonado and María De Oleo (Albania), Gabriela Sandoval and Daniela Salcedo (Trinidad and Tobago), Ambar María and Karla Carvajal (Uruguay), María Azul and Laura Núñez (Chile), Heidy Ojeda and Charles Sánchez (Afghanistan), and Alicia Rosario and Sade Lugo (India).
MI-EL CELEBRA SU PRIMER MODELO DE NACIONES UNIDAS
Los días 19 y 20 de abril se celebró el primer Modelo de Naciones Unidas MI-EL, en el cual participaron los estudiantes de Noveno a Duodécimo Grado, con el objetivo de que pusieran en práctica su liderazgo a través de estrategias de negociación y buscaran soluciones pacíficas a problemáticas de índole mundial.
Las comisiones trabajadas fueron, Consejo de Seguridad, Programa de las Naciones Unidas para el Medio Ambiente, Consejo Económico y Social y la Comisión de la Condición Jurídica y Social de la Mujer.
Rossy Báez, Coordinadora de Secundaria expresó: “La expectativa es que a partir de esta actividad los jóvenes se pueda animar a participar en otros MUN a nivel intercolegial y en escenarios similares que les permita debatir temas importantes y formen parte de la solución a los mismos”.
Al finalizar la jornada, varias delegaciones fueron premiadas en los renglones mejor papel de posición, mejor discurso y delegación destacada. Los estudiantes reconocidos fueron: Dulce Guzmán (Estados Unidos), Darling Jiménez (Suiza), Nathalia Zucco (Bolivia), Gabriel Aracena y Sofía Coxaj (Marruecos), Noemí Rodríguez y Ligia Virgil (Alemania), Alessia Jiménez y Elías Mejía (México), Anange Maldonado y María De Oleo (Albania), Gabriela Sandoval y Daniela Salcedo (Trinidad y Tobago), Ambar María y Karla Carvajal (Uruguay), Azul María y Laura (Chile), Heidy Ojeda y Charles Sánchez (Afghanistan), y Alicia Rosario y Sade Lugo (India).
