What we believe

Statement of Faith

MI-EL Christian School presents this Statement of Faith, which accurately describes its beliefs:

Holy Scriptures

We believe the Holy Scriptures, both the Old and New Testament in its entirety, constitute the Word of God and the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of humanity. (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit

We believe in only one God, creator of all, infinitely perfect and eternally existent in three co-equal persons: Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. (Genesis 1:1, Matthew 3:16-17).

We believe Jesus Christ is God and Man, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born from Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins. He was resurrected from the dead, ascended to heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father, interceding for us, those who believe and have accepted him as our Lord and Saviour. (John 10:30, Matthew 1:20-21, Corinthians 15:3- 4, Mark 16:19)

We believe that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify our Lord Jesus Christ; and during this time we must convince the world of the existence of sin, justice and of judgement through the proclamation of the gospel. He guides us to repent from our sins, and to confess Jesus as Lord of our lives. The Holy Spirit inside us, guides us, instructs us, and gives us the capacity and authority to live accordingly to the will of God (John 16:7-8, 13-14, 15:26).

Creation, Salvation, and Sanctification

We believe that mankind was created in God ‘s image, and after being tempted by Satan, he succumbed, rebelling against God, became an enemy of his Creator and subject to malediction, was separated from the divine grace, unable to return to God. Under these conditions, men can only obtain salvation through Jesus Christ, and can have a spiritual life through the regeneration of the Holy Spirit (Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:24-26).

We believe that the blood shed by Jesus Christ and his resurrection, provides the only means of justification for the salvation to all of those who believe, and only those who accept Jesus Christ, are born from the Holy Spirit and consequently become children of God. We believe salvation is obtained solely by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. (Romans 3:22-26, John 1:12, 3:16.

We trust that the Holy Spirit acts in our sanctification, making us fruitful as it shapes the image of Christ inside us. The Holy Spirit helps us grow in grace and in acknowledgement of our Lord Jesus Christ in freedom, practicing and maintaining his commandments and ordinances in our life, so that the name of our Heavenly Father be glorified (Romans 8:11, 13-14, 1 Corinthians 6:19).

We believe in the manifestation of the Holy Spirit through talents and benefits granted to all of Christ’s Disciples. (Romans 12:6, 1 Corinthians 12:4, Galatians 5:22)

Baptism and Communion

We believe in Baptism in Water and the Lord’s Supper, as ordinances to be observed by the church during this present time. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, 1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

The Church

We affirm that the real Church is formed by those who have believed in Jesus Christ, who are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and are united to the body of Christ, being Jesus Christ the Lord and Head of the Church (Matthew 16:16-18, Ephesians 2:20-21, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 12:27-28)

Second Coming of Christ

We believe that the achievement of all things includes: the second coming of Jesus Christ, which we await: the resurrection of the dead in Christ, the transformation of the living (rapture), the visible manifestation of Christ on earth with power and glory, the trial of the unjust and the fulfillment of Christ’s Kingdom in new heavens and new earth (1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 2 Peter 3:13, Revelation 21 1-7)

Marriage

We believe in the divinity of marriage, created by God, based on the union of an exclusive agreement between a man and a woman, to form a family which glorifies God, as described in the Scriptures. (Genesis 2: 18 – 25; Matthew 19:4-6; Ephesians 5:23)
