Conjunctivitis
It is the inflammation of the conjunctiva (membrane that covers the eyelids and the eyeball).
It causes redness of the eyes, burning sensation, itching, sticky eyelids, tearing and feeling of having sand under the eyelids.

How to avoid contagion:
1- Wash your hands and face thoroughly and frequently with soap and water.
2- Do not use cloth tissues to clean the eyes; instead use disposable tissues for each eye. After using it please throw it.
3- Do not greet with the face stuck.
4- Do not talk at a short distance to avoid being infected by fluids.
5- Do not share personal objects, such as glasses, makeup, and others.
6- Do not put your hands to your face.
7- Use chlorine or Lysol in all contaminated objects.

How is conjunctivitis treated?
1- Go to the specialist once a sandy sensation, itching, burning, redness, secretions and tearing it’s been felt.
2- Change bed sheet and towels daily, wash and iron.
3- Treatment should include an antibiotic with anti-inflammatory.
4- Use chlorine or Lysol in all contaminated objects.
5- The patient should be isolated (the student or employee must remain at home).
6- The treatment period should not exceed 5 days.

La conjuntivitis
Es la inflamación de la conjuntiva (membrana que recubre los párpados y el globo ocular). Produce enrojecimiento de los ojos, sensación de ardor, picor, párpados pegajosos, lagrimeo y sensación de tener arena debajo de los parpados.  

Como evitar el contagio:
1- Lavarse bien y frecuentemente las manos y la cara con agua y jabón.
2- No usar pañuelos de tela para limpiar los ojos, usar pañuelos desechables y usar un pañuelo para cada ojo, luego de usarlo botarlo.
3- No saludarse con el rostro pegado.
4- No conversar a corta distancia para evitar contagiarse por medio de fluidos.
5- No usar los mismos objetos personales como vasos, maquillaje, entre otros.
6- No llevarse las manos a la cara.
7- Pasar cloro o Lysol a todos los objetos contaminados.

Como debemos manejar la conjuntivitis:
1- Acudir al especialista desde que se presente el síntoma de sensación de areneo o cuerpo extraño, picazón, ardor, enrojecimiento de ojos, secreciones y /o lagrimeo.
2- Cambiar la ropa de cama y toallas todos los días, lavar y planchar.
3- El tratamiento debe incluir un antibiótico con anti-inflamatorio.
4- Pasar cloro o Lysol a todos los objetos contaminados.
5- Debe aislarse el paciente (el alumno o empleado deberá permanecer en su casa).
6- El período de tratamiento no debe sobrepasar los 5 días.
